Now, I know what you are thinking: why would I even need a way to deal with this type of student; and yes, being a bookworm myself I don’t feel like there is much to say. However, we generally like being alone and most bookworms are relatively shy. So, most of the time there is no reason to have to fear this type of student, but what if you want to befriend one?
Well, if you like reading, then there is a key common difference that you could use to make friends with a bookworm. But, to hold a conversation with a bookworm is hard; as they just want to keep on reading. Do not ever shut the book that they are reading to get their attention, it is the best way to make them really hate you. Being shy, their personal space is generally quite important to them; so don’t just go and expect them to play most physical sports. Just hold a conversation with them, maybe over the book that they are reading.
Just politely ask them to put the book down so that you can talk to them, and then chat away. They might appreciate a new friend, but shy people are hard to befriend because they don’t trust many people. So take your time and be patient.
