At the time of you guys reading this, I will probably be on a rollercoaster! So, today is another lesson, and this time it is on how to write the correct notes. Many teachers just say to write notes, but what do you write? How do you use those notes to revise in the future? What is their use?
That is the subject of today’s School Simplified, notes. And I will try my best to answer the questions above. (Even though I asked the questions).
Firstly, what do you write when asked to write notes? You need to do both short points and full sentences. The short points are good for homework and the full sentences you can incorporate into essays, and they are also good for revision!
Secondly, how do you use those notes to revise in the future? You remember 40% of what you write, so just writing notes is revising. Your notes can be used to make posters too, so they are great for revision. Do not just read your notes though, this is a terrible method of revision, you’ll only remember 20% of it.
Finally (at least before the bullet point list), what is the use of notes? Well, if you’ve read the previous two chapters then you’ll know the use of notes. Notes are your friend, use them to your advantage (don’t do that to your real friends, it’s a metaphor).
The Simplified List
- Don’t just read over notes, use them
- Notes can be used for homework as well as revision
- Incorporate notes into essays
- Write notes in class, even if not asked to do so
- Write your notes in both full sentences and short points
