It’s that time of the week again for another section of the How to: School book that I am writing, (yes, I know I haven’t acturally written any of the book since the creation of the blog, but … *Sigh* I don’t really have an excuse; I will do at least one chapter before I go away).
Now, onto todays’ topic; (incase you can’t read the title) it’s homework once again, but the thing most of us struggle with at school is homework, so it is a very relavent topic.
Of course, there are times (I can recall at least 3) when you get so much homework that you just break down and spend the next 16 hours (that might be an over exaggeration) grinding out the homework. But, if you don’t panic (at least not straight away) when you get the homework; you might just get it done and actually have some free time after school. So, this section is for your benefit, (and my own self-reflection in times of need).
A short extract of How to: School
How to Not Panic Over Homework
Homework. The word that drives fear into almost all students. You want to be in that small minority that breezes through their work. OK, it’s practically impossible to breeze through it. But you can at least you can approach it with something less than pure venom.
I think that most students dislike homework. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about it. So frankly, you have to put up with it.
You’ll get all sorts of homework, from simple tasks such as reading part of a book for English, to preparing for a class presentation (see How to Nail a Presentation), to making a ciliated epithelial cell model for Science (you’re probably thinking, what the heck are you talking about? Trust me, from experience, it could happen). They’ll be tasks you don’t mind doing to pieces of homework that you want to tear your hair out over. That’s normal. What’s important is that you try to tackle everything appropriately and sensibly, before the due date of the homework.
