How to Manage Homework and Free Time

We all want to relax after a hard day of school, at the weekends this is even more prevalent. The worst thing of all is having to work during the holidays. This holiday, I have had to spend around 5 hours doing an art project for homework; but I have carefully managed my free time and homework and it’s done with three weeks to spare.

I did the homework earlier in the holidays, so that for the rest of my holiday, I don’t have any worries about it not getting done! I am going away on holiday to Universal in Orlando, Florida for a week, and so it might be difficult for me to do daily blogs there; but I will try to keep posting for you guys.

Now onto the short extract of the book for todays’ post, this is perhaps the most relavent section for most students (almost all of us struggle with this). As always, this is not the full chapter, and so keep an eye out for when the book releases.

How to Manage Homework and Free Time

It’s easy to come home after a hard day of school and flop on the sofa, watching YouTube. Yep, we’ve all been there, and that’s OK. The problem is when you’re so unmotivated that you never do your homework or revise for a test. If you don’t do homework or revise, all of your grades will suffer.

On the other hand, it’s not good for you to do nothing except hours of homework and revision in your week. For one, you won’t do anything fun and second, you need time to rest without stress. So finding the perfect balance is the key.

Don’t put off revision and start ASAP. Do your homework as soon as you can. Get to a point in your revision where you feel comfortable to stop for the time being; I don’t recommend revising for more than a couple of hours in one go, or you’ll lose concentration. You want to maximise your focus so that you can retain enough information. Once your homework is done too, relax! Don’t be too hard on yourself, but do work too. It might sound confusing, but you need to allow yourself time for both work and free time.
